When I attained my degree in Travel & Tourism, I applied for a job as a trainee Recruitment Consultant for Rutledge Recruitment. I stayed there for about a year and realised that I enjoyed recruitment but wanted the opportunity to work for a bigger company with more opportunities. I then moved to Edinburgh to work for Margaret Hodge Recruitment for a couple of years and really enjoyed my time there. I moved back home and worked for Grafton recruitment in Portadown and then Lisburn. I wanted to move to Belfast and took up a post with Lynn Recruitment and stayed there for a couple of years. I wanted to work as an in house recruiter and applied for a job in Concentrix which was only a 3month contract. I stayed there 10 years and had the opportunity to learn about many different areas. On leaving Concentrix I was Recruitment Manager for Europe.

I believe you need to have a strong work ethic to enable you to achieve at your optimum performance. Stepping outside your comfort zone and getting involved in other things and taking all opportunities that come your way.

My Education
Biology, English Language, English Literature, French, Geography, History, Mathematics, Accounting and finance, Home economics, Irish 

I enjoyed English when at school but disliked Maths and failed my Maths the first time. I got a tutor and repeated it the following year and then passed. It was always a subject I struggled with but recognized the importance of having it and therefore put extra effort in to pass it. I also completed my Diploma in Speech and Drama. I attended these classes from the age of 7 until 18 and this really helped in my confidence and communication skills.

More about me

In my current role I oversee the running of the centre and regularly interact with a number of internal and external stakeholders therefore excellent communication and leadership skills are required.

I developed a lot of my skills when working in a business environment when I graduated. I also completed my Chartered Institute of Personnel Development when I was working which developed further skills relating to what I was working at. I have also been quite fortunate to have some amazing line managers and mentors that helped and supported me along the way.
